Most Booming Games Viking slots are basically the same. There are only so many ways to draw a guy in a horned helmet. However, this one stuck in our head, and this Power of the Vikings review explains exactly why.
This Booming Games title from a few years back has a few quirks that are worth getting into. The free spins do most of the heavy lifting. The bonus shield-pick adds a small interactive bit. And the artwork looks much better on mobile than we expected when we first loaded it up on our old Android phone.

Mechanically, there isn’t much to figure out. You’ve got five reels, three rows, and 25 winlines that won’t let you fiddle with them. The fixed winlines annoyed us at first because we usually like the option to drop our line count, but the minimum play amount was low enough that it stopped mattering after a few rounds.
The auto-spin is worth playing with if you don’t fancy clicking all night. Stick it on 25 or 50 spins and use the time to do something else. I burnt through one batch while sorting out our kitchen drawer, which sounds boring on paper, but at least we weren’t tempted to chase every near-miss manually.
The symbol set divides into two clear groups. You’ve got your lower symbols such as A, K, Q, J, and 10 playing card values. They show up in pretty much every round and award the smallest amounts.
The themed symbols give the slot its character. There’s a bearded male Viking, a female warrior next to him, a longship, a battle axe, and a horned helmet. Standard Norse fare, but the artwork has a chunky, almost cartoonish quality we quite liked.
Five of the male Viking symbols on a single winline give the best out of all the regular symbols, and when we first hit it we actually paused to read the win properly rather than just letting the round roll on.

At 95.60%, the Power of the Vikings RTP sits on the lower end of what we’d call acceptable. It’s not bad, but you can find titles with 96.5% or better. What we noticed more during our time with it was the medium-to-high volatility. Long dry patches, then a Scatter combo lands and the free spins finally give you something to be pleased about.
Three or more Scatters anywhere on the reels and the bonus round fires up. The multipliers can build during the round, so a single batch of free spins can swing from middling to good. Most of our better moments at this slot came in these rounds. The base game on its own is okay but unremarkable, and you’re really playing it to reach the bonus.
There’s also a small pick game where you tap on Viking shields to reveal a virtual coin amount hidden behind them. It only shows up occasionally and it won’t give you anything worthwhile, but it gives you a moment of doing something rather than watching. I’ll take that over a third bonus round of just spinning.
